Today, my mom and I went dress shopping. We had two appointments, one at a little hole in the wall place, and one at a consignment shop.
The first place was crap. The selection sucked; they didn’t have dresses big enough for me (I’m only a size 12/14, they only carried 10 and under in dresses); the a/c was not on, and it was above 100 outside; the lady didn’t pull a single dress for me. It was just overall lame. The silverlining though, is that I found the perfect silhouette! It was one I had never tried on before, because big stores put you in the same silhouette over and over again, assuming one will make you happy. Needless to say, this appointment ended early.
So we called David’s Bridal, and they could fit me in between appointments! I got to work with one of my old coworkers from The Disney Store, which was awesome! I tried on the first dress and everyone awed and oohed and said it was “the one.” I liked it, but wasn’t sold.
A few dresses later, I slip into a dress and get really antsy. I look down and am filled with anticipation and excitement and I just could not wait to see this dress. I get to the mirror to check it out before showing Mom, and I start to cry. THIS IS THE DRESS. And there was a bride next to me- her mom asked where my mom was and went and got her for me. I was still crying when Mom came back. And after a little shuffle with headpieces, Mom hugged me and cried too. Now mind you, I have been trying on dresses for a year now- and never had this, didn’t think it was in my cards.
We still went to the consignment store after, since you never know what you’ll find there. Well, we found nothing. But that’s okay, because I don’t think this dress can be beat. I can’t show pictures because my fiance will see, but I will PM the link to anyone who is curious!
I wish my bridesmaids had the same style as me. This is amazing!

Definitely wearing my grandma’s feather broach in my hair <3
For my Bridesmaid gift for my bridesmaids I decided to purchase their shoes for the wedding for them. What I did not tell them was that I was going to customize and personalize each of their shoes for them. So, I purchased white shoes (one wanted flats, the other heels) and then hand painted each shoe. I gave them their shoes yesterday since we were trying on bridesmaid dresses. It was quite a bit early to be giving it to them (most bridesmaid gifts are given right before the wedding) but since it was important to see what the dress would look like with the shoes, I did it then.
This one was for my bridesmaid Tarah. She likes vintage fabrics and clothing, so I did a paisley/vintage inspired pattern on hers.
Even better!

This one was for my bridesmaid Erica. She loves California and loves the ocean. In fact, she has a sleeve dedicated to the ocean on her right arm. So, I did her shoes with sea life, the State of California flag and the Golden Gate Bridge.
I wish my bridesmaids would be into this.
